EPA threatened at Old Works

The Environmental Protection Agency received a threat last week at Old Works Golf Course, according to town and federal officials.

The nature of the threat and what the agency’s exact response to it was are not clear, but the EPA says it “takes all threats seriously.

“We are coordinating with the Federal Protective Service and local law enforcement to ensure the safety of our staff and facilities,” said Rich Mylott, EPA public affairs specialist for Region 8 by email.

Atlantic Richfield Company says the company did not receive a threat.

But, Michael Abendhoff, spokesperson for the company, said by email that the company is working with local and federal authorities to understand the threat against EPA and help ensure worker safety.
