Flames break through the roof as firefighters battle the blaze on Ray's Heating and Sheet Metal on Front Street in Butte Tuesday, Dec. 12m 2017.

The cause of the fire that destroyed Ray's Heating and Sheet Metal building, 514 E. Front St., on Dec. 12 remains under investigation, Fire Marshal Brian Doherty said Wednesday in a news release.

"We have collected a large amount of information on this fire and are still in the process of reviewing that information to determine the cause,'' Doherty said.

He said the blaze "does not appear to be incendiary in nature.''

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no one was hurt, Doherty told The Montana Standard that day.
