Julia Marie Gangl Hutchison was born February 11, 1938 and passed away peacefully February 3, 2019 In Deer Lodge, Montana. She was born in Starkweather, North Dakota, the fifth child to Joseph and Mary Gangl. She moved with her family to Deer Lodge at age 16.
Julia worked her entire life while raising her 7 children. Early on she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Ma Bell, Safeway, and 4 B’s Restaurant. She then took a position at Montana State Hospital and Galen State Hospital where she would spend the next 27 years until retirement with a brief time spent in Billings.
Julia was married to Jim White and was divorced, she married Paul Revere “Bill” Wheat, deceased, and later married Bob Hutchison, deceased.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Foley Wheat; a grandson, Christopher White; a stepson, Paul Revere “Billy” Wheat Jr.; her sister, Helen Roberts; and her brothers, Wilfred, Frank, and Robert Gangl.
Julia is survived by her brother, Albert (Dorothy) Gangl of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; her children, Linda “AJ” (Chic) Hoenig of Three Forks, Jim (Karen) White of Helena, Cindy (Gary) Marshall of Deer Lodge, Laura (Chet) Periman of Deer Lodge, Val (Mitch) Clement of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, Albert “Chub” Wheat of Deer Lodge; stepchildren, Carla Beirle and Debbie Brown; grandchildren, Steven and Todd Waters, Amber and Sara Marshall, Alan, Crystal, and Amy White, Dale and Cheston Periman, Josh and Jake Heine, Lyndsay and Skyler Clement, Karson, Bridger, and Aliawna Wheat; great-grandchildren, Kemrai and Aiden Brenton, Ethan Arnold, Richard and Danelle Waters, KenziAnne and Jace Heine, Michelle Julianna Periman, and Gage Rupnow.
Even though she spent most of her life working and raising her family she was able to travel to Alaska and Hawaii. She also took a road trip to Oregon with her best friend, Edith and grandson, Dale. She attended numerous conventions with Jehovah’s Witnesses in the lower 48 states and Canada, as far east as New York City and west to Pasadena, CA.
Services will be held Saturday, February 9th at 2:00 PM at Jewel Funeral Home followed by a gathering at the Women’s Club House at the corner of Missouri and Clagget.
