Shawn Fredrickson announced on Friday that he is a candidate for Butte-Silver Bow County Commissioner, District 1.

Fredrickson will be running against incumbent Cindy Perdue-Dolan, who has said she is seeking reelection to the seat.

Fredrickson, 35, was born and raised in Butte. He is a graduate of Butte High School and holds a bachelor's degree from Montana Tech.

Fredrickson is employed by CLEAResult Consulting as an account manager and has worked in the energy industry for the past seven years. He sits on the governor-appointed and senate-confirmed Montana Coal Board and on the board of the Butte Center for the Performing Arts (Mother Lode Theatre).

"I look forward to speaking with the people of District 1 and hearing their ideas and goals for our neighborhood and city," he said in a prepared statement.

Shawn's wife, Ivy Newman Fredrickson, is an attorney for a nonprofit organization. They have two young children, Clark and Helen.

Ryan Lynch is serving as campaign treasurer.
