Donald Trump Jr. visits Billings

Matt Rosendale speaks at the Montana Republican Party's Platform Convention at Billings Hotel and Convention Center in Billings on Friday, June 22, 2018.

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Rosendale says he raised $700,000 over the three weeks following his Republican primary victory on June 5.

That's a big boost in the state auditor's campaign to unseat U.S. Sen. Jon Tester. But Rosendale has a long way to go after an expensive four-way primary to catch up to the incumbent Democrat's fundraising.

Rosendale said Wednesday he raised more than $1 million total between April 1 and June 30. He released the overall numbers but not the report itself ahead of Sunday's Federal Election Commission deadline.

Tester's campaign has not yet released his latest fundraising numbers. In mid-May, Tester had more than $6 million in the bank.
