John and Stella Duran

John and Stella Duran

John and Stella Duran of Butte were married 65 years ago today in Taos, N.M. In 1950, the couple moved to Butte to work and raise a family on the “Richest Hill on Earth.” John worked as a rock miner for the Anaconda Co., while Stella stayed at home to raise their five children — Gloria, their first child, married to Robert Baide; son, John, and his wife, Vicki Duran; daughter, Rufina (Duran) Morrow; daughter, Susie, and her husband, Bud Washburn; and their youngest, Lori Duran.

John and Stella have since welcomed 15 grandkids and 23 great-grandkids. They have lovingly cared for their entire family these 65 years and counting. They will be celebrating this momentous occasion surrounded by family at Clark’s Park.
