The Auditor

The Auditor is somewhat of a Butte legend. In 1986, the dog was first spotted above the Berkeley Pit. Through the kindness of Montana Resources' employees, he was kept fed and a makeshift home was built for him. He reportedly died in 2003.

Scarecrows disguised as characters from southwest Montana are on display throughout October at the World Museum of Mining, 155 Museum Way. Designed by local school students and businesses, guests can vote on their favorite scarecrow for royalty.

The designer of the winning scarecrow will win a family membership to the World Museum of Mining. Each paid admission will receive two tickets to vote for their favorite character. General admission is required to view scarecrows. The World Museum is open seven days a week. Hours are weather dependent.
