Helena author Lorretta Lynde will sign copies of her newly released novel, “Willow— The Magpie Odyssey V,” from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Cavanaugh’sCountyCeltic, 131 W.  Park St.in UptownButte.

“Willow” tells the story of one of the most popular characters from Lynde’s previous Magpie Odyssey series books.Willowis the most wayward and mysterious member of the American-Irish Lorrah family, of Eastern Montana andIreland. In this book, her influence upon one of the youngest members, Aisling, is a tour de force. As Aisling struggles to find her place in the Lorrah family’s Irish tradition, she calls upon the help of the family’s Crow Indian friends and receives it. But her great-great auntWillowis not to be outdone. The reader receives glimpses intoWillow’s own history while Aisling searches through family records for clues to her own future.

A fourth generation Montanan, Lorretta Lynde was raised on a ranch on the Crow Indian Reservation, where her Irish great-grandparents arrived, following the railroads west. Her 30-year career in the newspaper business took her toWisconsin,Montana,South DakotaandIowabefore she returned toHelena. With her husband, Bob Fusie, she travels frequently toIreland.
