The Rialto Community Theatre in Deer Lodge will have a special “sensory movie” showing of the new animated film “Hotel Transylvania 3” on Saturday, July 14, at 11 a.m.
A sensory movie is an opportunity for autistic children and adults as well as others with sensory issues, and their families, to enjoy a current film. At this time, the theatre lights are a little brighter and the volume is lower. Children are allowed to move around and bring in any special dietary snacks they may need. This type of showing is also a good time for parents to bring children for their first indoor theater experience.
The usual Rialto concessions will be available, including real butter on the popcorn.
“Sensory” showings in movie theaters began on the East Coast about 11 years ago. The Rialto was one of the first theaters in Montana to begin sensory showings about two years ago, and tries to have one every few months, depending on what films are available.
Movie prices each day are $5 for adults and $3 for children 11 and under.
