John Tibbetts, baritone, will perform a recital for his grandmother, Gerta Mular, at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at St. James Episcopal Church in Dillon. The public is welcome.
Tibbetts is singing across the United States and plans to visit Dillon to perform for his grandmother, her church and community.
Tibbetts appeared with Cincinnati Opera, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Opera, Opera Saratoga in New York, and Kentucky Opera. He was a 2018 finalist in the International Lotte Lenya Competition and recently signed a contract with the Sarasota Opera in Florida for the 2019 fall season. Tibbetts earned his master’s in music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and his bachelors in music from Georgia State University.

Pianist Charlene Loge of Dillon (Gerta’s next door neighbor), along with special guest Victoria Isernia, mezzo-soprano from Long Island, New York, will also perform.
Program highlights will include opera, Broadway, spirituals and more.
Donations are welcome at the door. A reception will follow in the guild hall.
