WISDOM — Spend the summer learning about history where history was made.
Big Hole National Battlefield’s annual summer speaker series will focus on the Nez Perce culture and Flight of 1877. The talks are at noon and 3 p.m.
First up will be Austin Haney on June 29-30. He will talk about what life was like for civilian volunteers during the War of 1877. Haney will also discuss impressions of the military at that time.

July 27-28 — Flint Knapping
July 30-31 — Nez Perce Traditional Resource Use, Tribal Dancing and Pow Wows
Aug. 3-4 — Traditional Nez Perce Food Gathering
Aug. 10-11 — Drum and Song
Aug. 17-18 — Fry Bread Program

The battlefield is located 10 miles west of Wisdom, on Highway 43. The Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in the summer. Admission is free year round. Details: 406-689-3155.
