Sylvia, an award-winning country and western singer from Nashville, will headline a benefit concert for a Butte woman at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Mother Lode Theatre, 316 W. Park St.

Proceeds will go toward the medical expenses incurred by Sunny Kay McDowell, who grew up in Wisdom on the Spokane Ranch, and is undergoing a fifth back surgery.

The show begins with an auction by Barnes Auction Service of Dillon, featuring auctioneers Tom Barnes and Rob McDowell.

Sylvia was voted the 1982 Academy of Country Music's Female Vocalist of the Year. The Butte show will feature her top hits, including "Tumbleweed,'' "Drifter'' and her big hit, "Nobody.'' She will also feature music from her new CD, "It's All in the Family.''

Opening for Sylvia will be Same Platts and the Great Plainsmen, featuring award-winning fiddler Lilly Brogger, who played for the Dillon Junior Fiddlers.

Tickets are available at the Mother Lode Theatre box office, 406-723-3602, on the website, www.buttearts.og, for $20. Details: Rob McDowell, 406-490-8279.
