Butte mental health counselor Dana Trandahl, 55, pleaded not guilty to Medicaid fraud at her arraignment Thursday morning. Prosecutors say Trandahl billed Medicaid at least $73,525 for services she never provided and listed some recipients who were never her clients.
State Medicaid investigators started looking into Trandahl’s billing practices in 2016 after receiving complaints from some of her clients who claimed they were billed for services they did not receive.
Trandahl says she is innocent of the charges, an attitude evident Thursday morning when she emphasized the “not” in her plea.
The Montana Standard’s repeated efforts to reach Trandahl have been unsuccessful. Her omnibus hearing is scheduled for Aug. 23, 2018, with Judge Kurt Krueger.
