PROF FINDS MAN SLEEPING IN CAR
A Montana Tech professor reported at the Butte police station Monday morning that she had found a man sleeping in the back seat of her car in a college lot after he smashed a window. Police said the professor told them she called security, who woke the man who believed he was in his friend's car. Police said security escorted the man back to his home, but did not report the incident to police. A warrant for the man's arrest will be issued.
COP CAR SHOT WITH PAINTBALLS
Three people were arrested around 5:30 p.m. Monday on the 1200 block of Second Street in unrelated incidents involving running from police, drug paraphernalia and a paintball gun. Officers patrolling on the 1300 block of Gaylord Street saw a woman they recognized as Anyssa Burch, 30, and said when they attempted to stop her she ran. Police caught up with her near the old Butte Rescue Mission on the 1200 block of Second Street and arrested her on four failure to appear city court warrants as well as felony drug charges possession charges for trying to ditch a pipe with residue. While still in the area, probation and parole officers informed Butte police they were watching a house nearby, and the police officer's car was then shot with paint balls. Police entered the house and recovered a paintball gun they said belonged to Steven Shipe, 48, and arrested him for criminal mischief and a drug paraphernalia warrant. Another man, Steven Medina, 42, was arrested in the house for a criminal contempt warrant.
