Resisting arrest

At approximately 4:15 Friday morning, an officer on routine patrol noticed two males on ATVs at the Town Pump gas station on the corner of Montana and Platinum streets.

According to police, the males began to act suspiciously when the officer began to approach the gas station in his vehicle.

When the officer arrived on scene, one of the males, John Lance Braunreiter, 50, was attempting to enter the Town Pump convenience store. Braunreiter then reportedly attempted to run when the officer asked him to stop. When the officer subsequently tried to put Braunreiter in handcuffs, he allegedly tried to get away.

Police report the officer had to tackle Braunreiter in order to detain him.

A check revealed Braunreiter was wanted on a felony warrant out of Missoula County. He was also charged with obstructing an officer and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

Dangerous drugs

At approximately 4:30 a.m. Friday morning, officers on routine patrol on Harrison Avenue began to follow a vehicle they assessed was being driven suspiciously.

They followed the vehicle into the parking lot of the Hampton Inn. When officers arrived at the scene, the vehicle's passenger, Jerad Roy Obresley, 28, of Butte, had left the scene, police reported.

A check reportedly revealed that the alleged driver of the vehicle, Bruce Leroy Taylor, 26, of Butte, did not own the vehicle.

Police contacted the vehicle's owner, who came to the scene and granted officers permission to search the vehicle.

The search uncovered what police believed to be methamphetamine.

Obresley and Taylor were subsequently both arrested on felony charges of possession of dangerous drugs and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Obresley was also charged with a felony parole violation.
