Partner-family member assault, minor injury

Police arrested Vidal Castillo, 35, of Butte, at around 10 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of W. Quartz St. for a felony count of partner-family member assault, minor injury and for a felony count of parole violation.

Police responded to the 400 block of N. Washington St. around 6 p.m. Sunday over a male-female disturbance. According to police, Castillo tried to strangle a woman in the residence and punch her in the back of the head and left with her 6-month-old child. Police found the child, who had been left at another residence and returned the child to the mother, police said. But Castillo returned around 10 p.m. and took the child again, police stated. Police found Castillo asleep with the child in the back seat of his car in the 500 block of W. Quartz St. Because Castillo was on probation for a previous charge of partner-family member assault, police contacted probation and parole.

Police made the PFMA a felony count because of the alleged strangulation.
