Man stops to observe fire, gets arrested
Police say they arrested Jason Lee, 38, of Butte on a contempt warrant Sunday night as he stopped to observe a garage fire on South Wyoming Street.
Police responded to the fire to assist fire fighters with diverting traffic. During the incident, police spotted Lee, who they knew to have a warrant out for his arrest from Butte City Court.
Police apprehended the 38-year-old, who they say yelled profanities at officers, attempted to punch the window of a police car as he was being arrested and hit his head on the car’s partition.
Lee has been cited with misdemeanor disorderly conduct in addition to the criminal contempt charge.
Located stolen vehicle results in two arrests
Police responded Monday afternoon to the 300 block of Main Street in response to a report of the presence of a stolen vehicle. When officers arrived, the car was not running and there were no keys in the vehicle.
Later on in the evening, police said, the owner of the vehicle spotted the stolen car on the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue. Police initially could not locate the vehicle but they later observed the car and a male driver near the corner of Grand and Harrison avenues.
The vehicle drove into the parking lot of a gas station on the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue, where police approached the vehicle and arrested the driver, Timothy Atkins, 39, homeless.
According to police, Atkins told officers that he did not know the vehicle was stolen and had borrowed it from a friend.
Atkins was cited with felony possession of stolen property.
Also in the vehicle was Jason Ford, 42, of Butte, who allegedly had in his possession a small amount of marijuana and a pipe.
Ford was apprehended and taken to the Butte detention center, where he has been cited with misdemeanor possession of dangerous drugs and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers patrolling Monday night near the 200 block of West Park Street arrested a 20-year-old Butte man who they say had a warrant out for his arrest for violating a release condition.
Around 9:45 p.m., officers apprehended Alex Osier, 20, of Butte, who they say traveling by foot along the street.
During the arrest, officers allegedly discovered Osier was in possession of a capped syringe.
In addition to being cited with violating a release condition, Osier was also cited with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
