Aggravated assault charge

Police arrested Butte resident Jay S. Hubber, 28, for an alleged assault that reportedly occurred in the early morning hours of Dec. 22 in a parking lot near Jim’s Bar on Elm Street.

Police received a report that morning from a man who said he’d been sitting in his vehicle around midnight when a man approached, dragged him out of the vehicle and assaulted him. The man later sought treatment at St. James Healthcare for injuries allegedly sustained during the assault. Police said the man and Hubber were acquaintances.

Hubber is charged with aggravated assault, a felony.

Felony forgery

Butte resident Lawrence H. Kahle, 51, faces a felony forgery charge for allegedly writing checks during December that had been stolen.

Police had responded around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of South Idaho Street to assist a search by the Probation and Parole Division. Kahle was arrested and charged with the felony forgery charge.
