Butte businesses participate in National Disability Employment Awareness Month workshops

Keri Ferguson, left, and Mikelyn McCarthy share a laugh with Ron Counts, as he works the counter at OMG Mongolian Grill on Wednesday afternoon during the restaurant take-over workshop for National Disability Employment Awareness Month at the local restaurant. "We wanted to show (the workers) off to potential employers," says Tom Cronnelly, co-owner of OMG! Mongolian Grill in Butte. In their first attempt at the event, Cronnelly and his wife Kristi teamed up with a host of local and state service providers and government agencies, including SBDDC, BSW, the Montana Independent Living Project, Aware Inc., and many more, to put on the 6 hour workshop at the 17 N Main Street restaurant. Cronnelly says all of the money made during the event will be donated to Montana Association for Rehabilitation and will be used to help people with disabilities get started in new jobs by covering costs for clothing, ride vouchers and equipment that might be needed to do the work.

Butte business owners Kristi and Tom Cronnelly join forces with local and state service providers to raise awareness about the benefits of hiring employees with disabilities.
