As a child, Maggie Davis, 26, spent a lot of time playing after school at the KBOW-KOPR radio station owned by her parents.
After graduating from Montana Tech with a degree in chemistry with a biochemical option, she worked in her field for a time. But her passion for radio pulled her back to the family business. Maggie told her dad how she had always wanted to run the radio station when he retired, and asked to come and work for him.
She currently is operations manager, account executive selling advertising, maintains the website and is the Friday Party Line trivia day host.
Maggie said, “I fell in love with radio as a child, and now each day I get to come to work with my Dad (Ron Davis) and Grandma (Lorraine Davis) while Mom (Shelly Davis) does the bookkeeping at home. I enjoy coming to work every day with an amazing team; I couldn’t do what I do without them. They are all like family and we do lots of things together. We play volleyball, participate in volunteer events and care a lot about each other.”
“I do a little bit of everything,” Maggie said. “I love what radio can do for the community. We have country entertainment and content and help other businesses in the community succeed through advertising. It is a lot of fun getting to go out and meet clients and not be stuck behind a desk all day.”
This bubbly, outgoing young woman also enjoys working on public service announcements.
“It is fun being a part of the community and doing something to serve the people here,” she said.
Elton ‘Mick’ Ringsak said in his nomination, “It is young people like her deciding and committing to keep the business going who are at the very heart of insuring Butte continues to prosper.”
When told of her nomination by Ringsak, Maggie responded, “It is awfully kind of him. I’m very honored to be recognized by someone I admire so much; it’s overwhelming.”
