PUBLIC NOTICE
The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration
(EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance from the City-County
of Butte-Silver Bow to construct a Silver Lake Water System (SLWS)
Improvements Project in Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana and Anaconda,
Deer Lodge County, Montana. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy
Act of 1969, as amended, EDA is conducting an environmental assessment
(EA) of the proposed project.
The Silver Lake Water System Improvements Project addresses several
deficiencies in the water storage, pumping, and distribution system.
Butte-Silver Bow (BSB) selected the following improvements to address
the identified deficiencies: (1) Replace the Ramsay Pump Station by
expanding the adjacent TIFID Pump Station facility (Location: 46.008061°N,
-112.676476°W); (2) Upgrade the Silver Lake East Dam outlets by
separating the existing pump and gravity outlets, allowing BSB to discharge
through the dam at two separate locations (Location: 46.166832°N,
-113.216290°W); (3) Upgrade the Silver Lake Pump Station by replacing
the 250 horsepower pump motors, installing variable frequency drives, and
repairing or replacing the damaged intake pipe (Location: 46.166030°N,
-113.221198°W); and (4) Update the SLWS instrumentation and flow
measurement by adding new lake level and flow measurement locations
throughout the system along with automation of data at both new
and existing instruments. This data will be integrated into Butte-Silver
Bow’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system where
it can then be viewed real time and historized for trending and record
keeping purposes.
