Rescue Mission to host basketball game
March Madness is coming to the MAC on Wednesday, March 21, in a Butte High vs. Central co-rec basketball game.
The first annual Headframe Hoops Classic will start at 7 p.m., with proceeds going to the Butte Rescue Mission. Besides cross-town bragging rights, the prize for the winning team will be a traveling headframe trophy created by Trace South, a welding student at Butte High.
A timed shooting event open to all Butte students in grades 7-12 will also be part of the event. The qualifying time trial will be on Saturday, March 17, at the MAC after the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Uptown Butte.
The free shooting contest will be to make as many 3-point free throws and lay-ups as possible in 24 seconds. Finalists will shoot during Headframe Hoops halftime on March 21. Winning prizes for each shooter’s category is a $25 iTunes gift card and an autographed basketball.
Those interested in the shooting contest must complete a sign-up sheet with their parents’ signature on it. Shooters may also pick one up in their school office or sign up at the MAC on the day of the qualifying shooting event on March 17.
