Butte High’s Jake Bentley posted a pair of top-four individual finishes to lift the Bulldog boys swim team into eighth place at the 17-team Bohn Moerer Meet in Great Falls on Saturday.
In the final tuneup for high school teams before the state meet back in Great Falls on Feb. 12-13, the Butte High girls wrapped up in 12th. Missoula Hellgate easily outpaced the field for both team titles.
Bentley was third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.84 seconds, finishing just behind winner Adam Zimmer of Big Sky/Loyola. He was also fourth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:06.08.
Zach Johnson added the Bulldogs boys’ other two individual top-10 finishes, taking 100 freestyle (53.95) and 10th in the 200 medley (2:16.27).
Bentley and Johnson joined forces with Kyle Komm and Trevor Komm to take second in the 200 freestyle relay – just seconds behind Hellgate – and third in the 400 freestyle relay.
For the underclassman-loaded Butte High girls, Elsie Dickerson was 11th in the 200 medley. She then joined Cynthia Trudgeon, Sidney Christie and Kennedi Ferriter to take sixth in the 400 freestyle relay. The 200 free relay team of Ferriter, Madi Joseph, Lexie Kautzman and Devin Antmann added a 12th-place finish.
