Jefferson’s A.J. Eckmann and Whitehall’s Hunter Flynn finished second and third, respectively, at the Rusty Raisland Invitational Cross Country Meet in Townsend, Saturday, ending Manhattan’s hopes for a clean sweep in the team standings.
The boys’ varsity race was won by Leonard McComas, of Manhattan, a school which also had runners place fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.
McComas ran the 3-mile course at Old Baldy Golf Course in 16:06.09, with Eckmann crossing the finish line in 16:09.00. Flynn was timed at 16:27.09.
Hobson’s Christina Eike won the girls’ event, turning in a time of 19:51.74, with Twin Bridges’ Savanna Stewart (20:23.92) placing third. Ann Russell, of Whitehall, was also a Top 5 finisher. She finished with a time of 20:50.23.
Manhattan won both team results, with the girls scoring 45 points and runner-up Townsend scoring 60. Twin Bridges was third with 116 points.
The boys’ scoring saw Manhattan finish with a paltry 23 points, with Townsend placing second with 63 points. Whitehall was fifth with 178 points.
