BILLINGS — The Whitehall boys basketball team wrapped up third place at the Southern B Divisional and a state tournament berth with a 52-34 win over Roundup on Saturday afternoon at Rimrock Auto Arena.

The Trojans will open the Class B State Tournament, back in the same Billings arena, against Anaconda on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The Copperheads earned the top seed out of Western B last weekend.

Against Roundup, the Trojans had control by halftime with a 24-13 lead and never trailed.

Max Feight scored 16 points to lead Whitehall, going 4 of 7 on 3-point attempts. Wyatt Alexander added nine points.

Kelson Eiselein had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Roundup. Jayce Griffith added 10 points for the Panthers.

Whitehall is familiar with its first-round opponent at state, having beaten the Copperheads 65-47 in Anaconda in nonconference play back on Jan. 19.

Lame Deer 69, Lodge Grass 54

Lame Deer pulled away in the second half and claimed the Southern B Divisional championship by beating Lodge Grass.

Draven Hart scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Trustin Two Moon added 14 points and Michael Weaselbear 13 for the Morning Stars.

Lame Deer led 35-32 at the half, but a 16-9 third-quarter helped the Morning Stars build a lead they never relinquished.

Jerico Biglefthand and Darrian Back Bone scored 11 points each to lead Lodge Grass.

Both teams will return to MetraPark next weekend for the Class B state tournament.

Whitehall 51, Joliet 46

Max Feight scored 17 points as Whitehall held off Joliet in early loser-out play.

Tied 27-27 at half, Joliet led by two heading into the final quarter but Whitehall overtook the J-Hawks by outscoring them 18-11 in the fourth quarter.

Braden Larsen scored 12 for the Trojans, and Wyatt Alexander added 11. 

Ty Olson led Joliet with 13 points.

Roundup 50, Townsend 49, OT

Jayce Griffith's 18 points helped Roundup edge Townsend in overtime in early loser-out play.

Kelson Eiselein added 15 points as Roundup outscored Townsend 6-5 in overtime.

Payden Anderson scored 18 points for Townsend.


Colstrip 58, Three Forks 56

Madison Bighorn hit a game-winning layup with three seconds remaining, and Colstrip edged Three Forks for the Southern B title.

The Wolves had tied the game just seconds earlier on a Morgan Allen shot, but couldn't stop the Fillies one last time.

Amaya LaFranier had 19 points to lead Colstrip, while Bighorn finished with 10. Shainy Mack led Three Forks with 22 points.

Red Lodge 63, Lame Deer 52

Red Lodge is heading to the Class B state tournament for the first time in school history after defeating Lame Deer for third place.

Four Rams scored in double figures led by Natalie Hilderman with 18 points. Jillian LaValley and Zoe Cortner each had 12 points while Kylie Kelly added 10. All 10 of Kelly's points came in the second half as she keyed a Rams' rally after halftime. Hilderman also grabbed 15 rebounds.

Lame Deer 69, Big Timber 59

Tamia Two Moons had 24 points to help Lame Deer end Big Timber’s season in early loser-out play.

Red Lodge 66, St. Labre 56

Natalie Hiilderman’s 20 points helped Red Lodge stay alive in early loser-out play.
