HELENA — The Montana High School Association announced on Tuesday during its April meetings that all four high school classifications will have combined, same-site tournaments beginning in 2019-2020. 

The only tournament that will not be combined in 2018-2019 is the State C boys and girls tournaments. The girls tournament will take place in Great Falls Feb. 28-March 2 while the boys will play the following weekend in Billings. 

Both the State A and C tournaments were separate this past season, but A will combine in 2018-2019 and will be played in Great Falls March 7-9. 

The 2019-2020 state tournaments will all be played on March 12-14. Bozeman will host the AA, Billings will host the A, Butte will host the B and Missoula will host the C. Here is a complete list of of championship dates and sites for the 2018-2019 season and the 2019-2020 season

The announcement was one of a couple of significant changes the MHSA announced at its meeting which took place in Helena on Monday and Tuesday. The MHSA announced Monday that for the first time a state championship football game will be played on a neutral site with the 8-Man state title game. The 8-Man championship will be played in Butte in 2018 and Billings in 2019. 

On Tuesday, the MHSA also made a group of reclassifications official. In 2019-2020, Belgrade will jump from Class A to Class AA while Arlee and Great Falls Central will both move up from Class C to Class B. Fairfield, which was eligible to drop to Class C, will stay Class B while Butte Central will stay put at Class A. The Maroons were eligible to move down to the Class B level. The MHSA also approved St. Regis' request to co-op with Mullan, Idaho in their 1A division on Monday which begins in the fall of 2018.
