As Braxton Hill zeroes in on the all-time Anaconda High School basketball scoring record this week, he has another honor to take in.

The Copperheads sharpshooter has been nominated for the Montana Gatorade Player of the Year Award.

Hill, who last week passed former Minneapolis Lakers player Ed Kalafat as the all-time leading boys scorer at Anaconda, is 24 points away from topping Ali Hurley as the overall top scorer in school history.

The Gatorade Award recognizes academic achievement and exemplary character. In addition to the Gatorade nomination, Hill will be in contention for Montana's All-USA Team and All-USA Player of the Year award, published by USA Today.

Hill and company host Butte Central at 7 p.m. Thursday.
