Florence holds off Loyola in District 6B boys

Aaron Woard scored 14 points, Ryne Baerlocher and Mike Finlay added 11 apiece, and the Florence boys got out to an early lead and held off Missoula Loyola to take the District 6B boys championship on Saturday night.

Both teams will advance to next week’s divisional tournament.

Florence led 26-13 by halftime and their lead held steady from there.

The Breakers were led by J.J. Anderson with 14 points and Josh Janssen with 13 points in the defeat.

Florence 14 12 12 15 – 53

St. Ignatius 56

Jake Simpson scored 23 points, Derek Walker and Jesse Vasquez added 13 points apiece, and the Deer Lodge boys rocked St. Ignatius in the second half to claim third place at the District 6B tournament.

Both teams will advance to next week’s divisional tournament.

The Wardens also received 10 points from Rodney Hunter in the victory.

The Bulldogs were led by Jarred Brown with 16 points in the defeat.
