Montana Western and women's head basketball coach Lindsay Woolley announced the addition of assistant coach Tony Nakashima for the 2016-17, in press release sent out Thursday afternoon.

Nakashima, who originally hails from Oregon, will be entering his seventh season in coaching, with previous stops at Bethany College in Kansas and Warner Pacific College in Portland.

Nakashima also has three years of high school and AAU coaching under his belt.

"Tony is going to bring some experience and energy to our staff," Woolley said in the press release. "I think he is really going to thrive on the recruiting trail, and I know our players are going to be responsive to his style of coaching."

Nakashima was a prep standout in his days at Portland Adventist Academy, where he set the school record for career steals, was second all-time in career 3-pointers, fifth in career assists, and seventh in career points.

He went on to play college basketball at Hawaii Pacific University, then transferred to Pacific Union College to finish his career.

Montana Western opens its 2016-17 campaign on Oct. 28 when the host Northwest Indian College.
