DILLON — Former University of Montana Western wrestling coach T.J. Nelson is slated to enter the NAIA Hall of Fame.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced 21 honorees as part of its annual National Awards Day. Included in that bunch is Nelson.

Nelson was the school's wrestling coach from 1987-1996. The Bulldogs tied for the national championship in 1994 with Southern Oregon. He coached 45 All-Americans and nine national champions. 

Other honors Nelson has achieved are Frontier Conference Coach of the Year, District 12 Coach of the Year, national Rookie Coach of the Year and NAIA Wrestling Coach of the Year.

Nelson is currently the wrestling coach at Beaverhead County High School in Dillon. 

Nelson will be honored during the NAIA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, in March.
