BUTTE – John Chapman scored 27 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out four assists as the Montana Tech men's basketball team had little issue with Salish Kootenai College.

The ‘Diggers took the game 121-68 as seven Tech players scored in double figures. Tech started off hot and led 58-27 at halftime. Things got even worse for the Bison in the final 20 minutes as the Orediggers scored 63 points in the second period.

Nick Fitts had 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting from 3-point range for Tech, while Iman Chatman added on another 17. Chatman ended with a double-double, pulling down 10 rebounds.

Taylor England was close to a triple-double, scoring 11 points, handing out nine assists and tallying eight rebounds.

Aquino Brinson led the way for the Bison, scoring 26 points in 36 minutes. Jaydon Bautista (13 points) and Zachary Mills (11 points) were the only other scorers in double-figures. Bautista als had seven rebounds. Mills had six and two assists.

Both teams were sloppy – Salish Kootenai had 25 turnovers and Tech had 15.

Kourtney Coverdell had 21 points in just under minutes as the Oredigger women’s basketball team routed the Bison.

Tech started off the game on a 12-5 run and never trailed in the blowout. The ‘Diggers lead 64-28 at the half and shot 61.9-percent in the first 20 minutes of play. Coverdell had 15 of her points at halftime, while Kaylee Zard had eight rebounds and four assists

Montana Tech was a little sloppy with the ball and had seven turnovers at the break, but was much better in the second half, finishing with 10 total.

The Orediggers defense, meanwhile, was vicious. The Bison shot just 38.3-percent from the field and was committed 22 turnovers. Salish Kootenai was outscored just 40-31 in the second half, though Tech did have most of its starters pulled.

Including Coverdell, six ‘Diggers scored in double figures. Shay Potter (12), Sammy McGree (11), Mollie Peoples (10), Hailey Crawford (10), Monica Landdeck (10) were the other double-figure scores for Tech.

Kristie Runsabove was the leading scorer for the Bison and had 23 points on 10-of-26 shooting. She also had six rebounds, which was a team high.

Braylee Stone was the only other Salish Kootenai player in double figures, scoring 12 points and dishing out three assists in 24 minutes.
