The Montana Tech men's basketball team had 13 second-half turnovers to let a six-point halftime lead get away in a 67-55 loss to No. 25 Arizona Christian at the Cactus Classic in Phoenix on Wednesday.

The Orediggers (6-7, 0-2 Frontier) led through most of the first half before a 9-0 run from the Firestorm (9-1) — keyed by a pair of 3-pointers from reserve Al Brown — gave ACU the lead for good.

The Firestorm shot 41 percent from the floor in the win, but went 9 of 18 from deep.

Chris Sterling led ACU with game-highs of 19 points and nine rebounds, while Brown added all eight of his points in the second half.

Chris O'Neill and John Chapman had 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Orediggers. Lukas Vining added 10 points and six rebounds.

Tech next travels to Utah Valley University on Friday, and resumes conference play after the Christmas break at Carroll College on Jan. 2.

Western 80, Embry-Riddle 65

Shyke Smalls and Kooper Kidgell each hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points, and the No. 17 Bulldogs (11-1) shot 50 percent from the floor to rout the Eagles (3-10) at the Cactus Classic.

The win is the sixth in a row for Western, which also got 16 points and six rebounds from Marcus Payne. Dom Robinson and RIley King added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bulldogs scored 23 points off 18 Embry-Riddle turnovers.

Sean Wood led the Eagels with 19 points, while Gilbert Ibarra had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
