BOZEMAN – Just two cowboys recorded scores in Thursday’s bull riding performance.

Expect the scores to pick up tonight.

Four of the top ten cowboys in the Big Sky Region standings are slated to compete, headed by Montana Western’s Conner Murnion (third) and Kelly Murnion (fourth). Keenan Kvamme of Montana State enters the night in fifth place. Meanwhile, Kolten Moss of Northwest College in Wyoming is in striking range from 13th place.

On Thursday, Caleb McMillan of Northwest and Wylee Hurst of Montana State were the lone scorers in bull riding, both notching 70 points.

McMillan and Montana State’s Will Powell – first and second in the all-around standings, respectively – are back on the start lists tonight with a chance to add to their point totals.

Saddle Bronc is on tap for McMillan, who is currently sixth in the region standings. Steer wrestling is on tap for Powell, who sits in second overall.

Of note: Zane Marcenko set the bar in steer wrestling in Friday morning’s slack round. The MSU-Northern cowboy posted a time of 6.4 seconds, edging Thursday’s top time of 7.5 seconds set by Montana State’s Carson King.

Names to watch: Montana Western’s Tristan Hansen looks to make Saturday’s short go in bareback. Meanwhile Western is well-represented in goat tying with Marlee Mussman and Tori Lewis on the schedule. Mussmann and Lewis are third and fifth in the Big Sky standings, respectively. Western is currently 1-2-3-5 in the standings, with Tess Turk (first) and Sierra Lyons (second) rounding out the Bulldogs representation in the top five.
