LOGAN, Utah — Koby McEwan scored 20 points and DeAngelo Isby added 18 to lead Utah State to an 81-73 victory over Montana State on Monday.
The Aggies (1-1) made 10 of 18 3-pointers, shot 56 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Bobcats 40 to 28. Harald Frey and Tyler Hall led MSU (1-1) with 15 points apiece. Frey and Hall each had five assists.
A Hall 3 with 40 seconds left in the first half put the Bobcats ahead 41-40, which was the score at intermission. But Utah State built a 16-point lead in the second half, capped by a layup from McEwan, with 7:08 left.
The Bobcats were within six points with 1:35 to go after a basket by Hall, but that was as close as they got. Joe Mvuezolo scored 12 points for MSU, while Konner Frey had 10 before fouling out.
MSU returns home Wednesday to face Montana Western of the Frontier Conference.
