The Butte Central Maroons breezed past the Belgrade Panthers for a 54-40 victory in the Class A state consolation semifinals Saturday morning at the Butte Civic Center.
Now, the Maroons will face the Corvallis Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. in the consolation championship game.
Butte Central was led by junior Kloie Thatcher with 18 points and five steals. Also chipping in was senior Emily St. John with 13 points and senior Mollie Peoples with 11 points. The Maroons shot 33 percent from the field and went 23-for-28 at the free-throw line.
The Panthers, who were eliminated from the tournament, were led by junior Kiah Hohenstein with 11 points. Senior Shania Neubauer and junior Hannah Gee added eight points apiece, respectfully. Belgrade shot 32 percent from the field and outrebounded Butte Central 31-26.
During the regular season, Butte Central defeated Corvallis twice.
CORVALLIS 47, HAVRE 37
The Blue Devils routed the Blue Ponies for a trip to the consolation semifinals.
Corvallis was led by senior Corinne Sanderson who had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow senior Emme Warnken dropped 10 points and had one assist. The Blue Devils shot 33 percent from the field and 82 percent from the line.
Havre, who was knocked out of the tournament, was led by senior Naomi Terry with 17 points and seven rebounds. The team was led on the boards by junior Danielle Wallace with 10 rebounds. The Blue Ponies shot 20 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free-throw line.
