Veterans need ice fishing equipment donations
Local hospitalized veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder need ice fishing equipment donations this Christmas.
Our PTSD/Substance Use Disorder Unit in Helena needs your ice fishing equipment donations. Our recreation budget is slim to nil.
We struggle with our afflictions and need recreation after class. This involves re-learning to participate in meaningful leisure activities as a portion of our treatment. We are given passes and transportation by staff to the nearby fishing areas. But now have no ice fishing equipment.
Recreation is a key component to rehabilitation, as opposed to just sitting in this hospital, dwelling on the past. We need all ice fishing equipment, new or used: large ice shacks, ice fishing rods and reels, and an auger to make holes.
We are hoping you support our recovery and will donate. Please, no checks or cash. Gift certificates for sporting goods stores, drop-off donations graciously accepted.
Send to: Trauma Recovery Unit, Heather Broderson, recreation therapist, VA Montana HCS Bldg 169, 3687 Veterans Dr., Fort Harrison, MT 59636-1500.
