Thanks to Tester, others on vets' home
After years of obstruction at both state and federal levels, I was thrilled to see that the Butte Veterans Home has finally been approved. This is a true cause for relief as well as celebration, veterans of southwest Montana have Senator Jon Tester to thank!
For as long as I can remember, Tester has gone to bat for this veterans home in Butte so that veterans in our corner of the state have the care they need and deserve. Also for as long as I can remember, Tester’s advocacy for this project has been stonewalled by federal bureaucrats who shoved the home further and further down their priority list. Without funding, it seemed at times that the Butte Veterans Home was hopeless. Jon Tester announced that he had secured the money the home required to start construction as soon as this year!
Of course, there are dozens of other folks who deserve a huge thank-you for this project as well. A community of veterans, state legislators, and Montana donors who teamed up for years in order to get this project off the ground. The blood, sweat, and tears of working Montanans laid the foundation for this critical veterans home—and now, our senator Jon Tester has won his fight to build the house. I am proud to have a senator that has never and will never give up on Montana veterans, even when the going gets tough.
