Support for Whelan

It is with warmest regards that I offer my recommendation to Bob Whelan as a candidate for District Court Judge.

I have had the opportunity to know and work with Bob as a volunteer for 12+ years. Bob and I, both having swimmers on the Butte Tarpon Swim Team, served as board members and board officers together for many years. Bob also took over the coordination of the home swim meets so I worked closely with him both in getting the meet organized and running the timing console. As our kids got older, Bob and I volunteered as officials and could often be seen on the decks of swim meets across the state for both age-group swimming and high school events. Bob has a passion for helping people and that was obvious by his efforts for the local swim club.

Many years later, Bob was there for me and my family as a close friend after the death of my son, Jacob. Simply put, Bob stepped up to help and support us at a critical time. In the spring of 2014 when we began organizing the beginnings of the Jacob Wheeler Foundation, Bob was an easy choice as a board member. He is a person with the kind of integrity that my family wanted to help represent the foundation. Bob has been on that board since 2014 and has played a critical role in making sure our annual Lantern Lighting event is a success.

I have had several opportunities to use Bob’s services as an attorney - from helping with wills to handling the transfers of business equipment and property. Bob is someone I trust to get the job done and reputably honor my interests.

It is clear from writing this letter that our relationship has developed over the years from swim dads ribbing each other about who was going to win the Cat/Griz games and helping to lead the local swim club where our kids were involved to very good friends. I am fortunate that we crossed paths many years ago. I have a deep respect for Bob’s commitment to family, friends, profession, and community and I know he will carry that commitment forward as the District Court Judge.

— Bill Wheeler, Butte
