President deliberately distorts Kaepernick's reasoning
Colin Kaepernick made his reason for not standing for the Star Spangled Banner quite clear last year: "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."
Donald Trump, who cares not one iota about blacks and people of color being oppressed, has deliberately and cynically distorted the meaning of Colin's protest. Colin didn't spit on the flag. He didn't burn it. Instead, he knelt respectfully instead of standing robotically at attention.
Remember the words of Samuel Johnson: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."
