National parks belong to the public
As a longtime proponent and advocate for the National Park Service, let me remind Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke that the first and subsequent national parks were established to be public parks or pleasuring-grounds for the benefit and enjoyment of the people.
Making the national parks too expensive for the public to enjoy as a way of raising money and managing visitors is not in the spirit or the letter of the law establishing the national parks.
I urge everyone who values the national parks to contact the National Park Service and make their voices heard. There’s an easy comment link on their website: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/projectHome.cfm?projectId=75576.
Do not take the public out of our public lands and national parks. They belong to all of us, not just a select few.
