Billboards would help tourism
Several years ago The Montana Standard published my letter suggesting two billboards be erected on I-90 at each end of the city to attract the millions of passers-by to Uptown Butte. The billboards could each display perhaps two or three colorful photographs of the city's architectural and cultural jewels, such as the Copper King Mansion, the Clark Chateau, a picturesque headframe, and any one of a number of its beautiful buildings.
I'm at a loss to explain to my wife why city officials seem clueless and ignorant of the fact that such a step would obviously increase Butte's tourism dollars by a thousandfold.
