BILLINGS — After running the South Side IGA grocery store for almost three years, Shayne and Dani Meskimen are liquidating the inventory and will focus on their Lockwood IGA store.

“I gave it everything I had,” Shayne Meskimen said about buying the store at 4220 State Ave., in 2010. They tried to keep a locally owned, neighborhood grocery going in an area with few grocery choices.

The liquidation sale at the South Side IGA will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week.

“I’m hoping to be done in two weeks, but realistically it might be three weeks,” Meskimen said.

The South Side store used to be owned by Van’s Inc., a Montana corporation.

Meanwhile, the couple’s Lockwood IGA is in the first phase of a major remodeling project, including new freezers, beer cases and a room for energy efficient compressors, he said.
