SHERIDAN LIBRARY TALK
The Friends of the Sheridan Library will host the Montana Conversation program “Nike’s Echo” with Chrysti Smith at 7 p.m. at the Sheridan Library. In “Nike’s Echo,” Smith revives the myths of the ancients and explains how those stories live on in dozens of common English words. Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site will have its annual Victorian Holiday Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. at 266 Warren Ln., Deer Lodge.Come out and see the ranch transformed for the holiday and celebrate the season with music, children's activities, wagon rides, and refreshments. The event is free.
GOOD NEIGHBOR DAY
Good Neighbor Day begins at 1 p.m. at the Anaconda Chamber visitor center, 306 E. Park Ave. This year’s Good Neighbors are Maryanne and Duane Brugman.
Corey Gransbery will be demonstrating ice sculpting beginning at noon at the Anaconda Chamber of Commerce, 306 E. Park Ave., Anaconda.
Butte Elks Lodge 240 will hold its annual memorial service at 2 p.m. The following members will be remembered at the service: Esperanza Andrade, Jack Hihnala, Dan E. Pizzola, William Austin, Thomas H. Zoeller, Donald F. David, Robert Renz, and Gary T. Chatriand.
'A CHRISTMAS STORY'
“A Christmas Story” will be staged at the Cutler Theatre in Deer Lodge through Dec. 17. The holiday classic will run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 general admission and may be reserved by calling the Cutler box office at 406-846-4096.
Volunteer judges are needed for Butte Central High School’s speech and debate meet on Saturday, December 9. No experience is necessary. Judging clinics will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 3, and 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the high school library. The Montana Tech Choral Union and Copper Hill Choir will hold their popular Christmas-season concert at 3 p.m. at the Montana Tech library auditorium. Tickets are available at the door and are $10, or $5 for students and seniors. There also will be a silent auction and refreshments.
