FILM FESTIVAL IN BUTTE

The second Covellite International Film Festival will screen over 110 films over five and a half days, Sept. 12-17, at venues throughout Butte. Venues include the Mother Lode Theater, 316 W. Park St.; the Covellite Theatre, 215 W. Broadway St.; Mountain View Music Hall, Montana and Quartz; the Salvation Army Building, 121 E. Broadway; The Original mineyard, Copper and Main; and more. BROWN BAG LUNCH

In conjunction with the Covellite International Film Festival, the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives at 17 W. Quartz St., will continue its Brown Bag lunch series at noon with a presentation by Brian D’Ambrosio titled “Shot in Montana: A History of Big Sky Cinema."

BURROS CLUB MEETING

The Butte-Silver Bow Democrats Burros Club will have a luncheon at noon at the Butte Country Club, 3400 Elizabeth Warren Ave. Guest speakers will be members of the Southwest Montana Continuum of Care Coalition. The group will present information about a new delivery system the Coalition is building to end homelessness in Silver Bow County. Details: 406-498-1678.

HOLOCAUST TALK

The first annual Interdisciplinary Arts and Science Research Colloquium begins at 4 p.m. in Montana Tech CBB 101, with a talk by Professor Henry Gonshak on the Holocaust in American cinema: “Hollywood’s Holocaust Survivor: The Pawnbroker.” Details: See Facebook

Stella Capoccia will talk about wildlife restoration from 4 to 4:50 p.m. in CBB 102 on the Montana Tech campus.

CLUBS AND MEETINGS

BUTTE

  • Preceptor Beta, Beta Sigma Phi, will meet at 7 p.m. in Mary Lou Fitzpatrick’s home, 1901 Roberts Ave.  This is the first meeting for 2017-18. The program will be about Butte and its iconic history.  
  • Butte Amateur Hockey registration will be held at the Butte Community Ice Center, 1700 Wall St., from 6 to 8 p.m, for ages 4-18. Hockey starts the first week in October. Details: Zanae, 406-498-1877.
  • Butte Sunrise Kiwanis Club meets at 7 a.m. at Perkins Restaurant. Guest speaker will be Jocelyn Dodge, recreation forester, Butte District, U.S. Forest Service, with an update on the fires.
