Safe Space to honor Butte police officer
In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, Safe Space will once again honor a peace officer from the Butte-Silver Bow Police Department with the “Officer of the Year Award.” The event will be at noon Thursday, Nov. 30, in the meeting room of the Metals Sports Bar & Grill.
This is the 21st year presenting this award to acknowledge the positive responses by Butte’s law enforcement officers to domestic violence and sexual assault calls.
Clients who were helped by the Butte-Silver Bow Police Department in cases of domestic violence or sexual assault, and received services from Safe Space, fill out “Police Officer Response” questionnaires. Officials from Safe Space gather data from these questionnaires, based on clients’ experiences, and award an officer who goes above and beyond the call of duty when helping victims.
