Maroon Magic set for Dec. 6

Butte Central High School presents Maroon Magic 2017 at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the high school auditorium.

The choir, pep band and guitar classes will perform, along with solo performances. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

Judges needed for speech meet

Volunteer judges are needed for Butte Central High School’s speech and debate meet on Saturday, Dec. 9.

No experience is necessary. Judging clinics will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, and 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the high school library. It's recommended that new judges attend and veteran judges are welcome for a refresher course.

DAR to celebrate 120th anniversary

The Silver Bow Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate the 120th anniversary of their Chapter on Dec. 7.

The public is invited to join in the celebration with an open house held at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, 17 W. Quartz St., at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

The mission of the DAR has been to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism and Silver Bow Chapter has been doing that in the community for more than a century.

Major Gen. McLean to be honored

ANACONDA — Veterans and family members of William T. McLean, Major General, U.S. Army, retired, will gather to honor his Army experiences at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Courthouse. His uniform will be on display for three months. The public is encouraged to attend. Details: 406-980-0340.

Rescue Mission benefits from tree sales

The Butte Rescue Mission will receive a portion of all sales of Christmas trees and wreaths sold this holiday season by Matosich Christmas Trees.

The trees are setup at Silver Bow Pizza, 3500 Harrison Ave. The hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or later.

For more than 40 years the Butte Rescue Mission has worked to help the hungry and homeless in a seven-county area in southwest Montana. Currently closed, the Rescue Mission will soon begin site preparation for a permanent mission at 610 E. Platinum St., in Butte. Details: Rocky Lyons, 406-782-0925.

Retired mine workers plan holiday dinner

Retired Mine Workers will meet Friday, Dec. 8, at the Butte Country Club. The meeting is at 6 p.m., and the dinner will follow. For reservations, call Tom Holter at 406-494-7953.
