Salvage materials sale set Oct. 19

Butte Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization will hold their last salvage sale of the season on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the alley behind the Piccadilly Museum, 20 W. Broadway.

Items include ornate hot water and steam radiators that have been successfully pressure-tested, the old front porch posts taken from the Jacobs House, and a number of doors in addition to other items. Proceeds support the Historic Improvement Program grants and go directly back into the community.

Our Lady of Fatima anniversary noted

Butte devotees of Our Lady of Fatima apparitions that occurred in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917 will celebrate the anniversary of the last apparition, the Miracle of the Sun, with a rosary rally at noon Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Peace Garden at St. Ann’s Church, 2100 Farragut Ave.

The Butte Fatima devotees will join their prayers to the prayers of 21,000 other rosary rallies being held across the United States. Those attending are encouraged to bring a chair.

Hospital auxiliary to host bingo

St. James Healthcare Auxiliary will hold a fall bingo fundraiser at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at St. Ann's Parish Hall, 2100 Farragut. The cost is $5 for 12 games with three special games offered.

Cash prizes will be given to the winners, and refreshments will be provided.

Proceeds go toward college scholarships for those entering the medical field and for hospital equipment.

Speech tourney calling for judges

The Butte High Speech and Debate Team is set to host the first two-day tournament of the 2017/2018 season on Oct. 27 and 28 at Butte High School.

Hosting "The Richest Hill on Earth" meet requires over 500 hours of volunteer judging to successfully host this tournament. No experience is necessary to judge. There will be a judges clinic in the Butte High School auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25. Rounds begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, and continue throughout the day Saturday.
