Tech schedules krypton presentation
The Montana Tech Public Lecture Series will host Karl K. Rink at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Engineering Laboratory Classroom Building 202.
Rink’s presentation is titled “Use of the Krypton-85 Radioisotope Technique to Identify Non-Hermetic Energetic Devices.”
The krypton-85 test method is a highly sensitive technique used to characterize the seal integrity and quantify leak rates in a wide range of microelectronic, micro-ordnance and energetic devices.
Rink is a technical adviser for Nippon Kayaku America, an adjunct professor at the University of Idaho, and a consultant for various manufacturers of energetic components. Dr. Rink has been awarded 50 U.S. patents, is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and was named an Outstanding Mechanical Engineer by Purdue University.
New accountant joins local firm
Mark Rule & Company announces the addition of Leigh C. Walker, CPA, CGMA, to the practice.
Walker is a recent transplant to Montana, having grown up in Atlanta. She graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Accounting.

Bear story time topic Tuesday
Story time at the Butte Public Library, 226 W. Broadway St., starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the children's room. The subject is "Going on a Bear Hunt," and kids will listen to stories, sing songs, and do a map craft. All ages are welcome. Details: 406-723-3361.
Annual pumpkin swim set for Oct. 23
The Butte YMCA's annual Pumpkin Swim is at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at 2975 Washoe St.
During the Pumpkin Swim, kids find the perfect pumpkin in the pool. They can paint their pumpkin and take a photo with their creation. In addition, they receive a pumpkin cookie to decorate and eat. Details: 406-782-1266.
Crest holiday bazaar set for Nov. 14
The Crest nursing home will have its annual holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at 3131 Amherst Ave. Crafters can reserve a spot for $30. Money goes to making a great Christmas for the residents.

Dentists want all your candy on Nov. 2
Butte Family Dental dentists Drs. Bill Brennick, Tara Eller Gilbreath and Kyle McIntyre are planning their annual Halloween candy buy-back from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at their office, 820 Sampson St.
Wrapped candy and non-perishable food items will be weighed and purchased back at $1 per pound up to $5 per child.
The collections will be packaged and shipped to Operation Gratitude, where they will then be sent to U.S. troops. Donations to aid shipping costs and cards of appreciation for the troops are also welcome. Call 494-7080 for details.
Grant-Kohrs to host Pumpkin Sunday
DEER LODGE -- The Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site in Deer Lodge will celebrate Pumpkin Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.
Featured will be a tractor-drawn hayride, hay maze, pressing apples into cider, and craft activities from wheat weaving to pumpkin painting and making soup. Carnival games, guided tours of the ranch house, and free pumpkins while they last are planned.

Butte-Silver Bow Public Library has four free adult and four student (K-college) tickets available for the Butte Community Concert Association's "Presidio Brass” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Mother Lode Theatre.
