Food drive set Saturday in Butte
The 29th annual Thompson Distributing City-Wide Food Drive runs from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 2, in Butte.
People are asked to leave bagged non-perishables such as canned soup, fruit and vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, paper towels, pasta, cooking oil, shampoo, bar soap, crackers, spaghetti sauce, cereal, and canned meats next to their mailboxes Saturday ready for pick-up between 10 a.m. and noon.
Donations can also be dropped off that day at the Butte Emergency Food Bank, 1019 E. Second St., or at the Racetrack Fire Hall, 2344 Grand Ave., 406-723-4041. Cash donations also are appreciated.
The event is sponsored by Thompson Distributing and Pepsi.
UM director to speak at Tech
The Montana Tech Business and Information Technology Department will host speaker Paul Gladen, director of Blackstone LaunchPad at the University of Montana, at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in the Student Union Building’s Copper Lounge.
Gladen’s presentation is titled, “How to Build a Startup in Montana,” which explores what it takes to start a business in Montana, and outlines some of the key methodologies and resources available to entrepreneurs embarking on their startup journey. He will also discuss the annual John Ruffatto Business Startup Challenge that is open to Montana Tech students and takes place at UM in April 2018.
He is the director of the Blackstone LaunchPad at the UM, a program that helps students, alumni, faculty and staff explore entrepreneurship. He is co-founder of the Hellgate Venture Network, a networking group for Montana entrepreneurs.
'No Greater Love' film to debut Saturday
The film version of “No Greater Love” will be screened 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the auditorium of Butte High School, 401 S. Wyoming St., during a world premier celebration.
A packet containing DVDs of the film, CDs and an updated program will be available for purchase for $35.
Attendance is free and all proceeds from packet sales will go to Friends of the Archives, a nonprofit that works on behalf of the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives. Attendees will also have the opportunity to donate to Action Inc. and the Butte Food Bank during the event, and recipients of grants from the board of “No Greater Love” will be announced.
DVDs and CDs of “No Greater Love” will also be available for purchase at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, 17 W Quartz St, starting Friday.
Twin Bridges center serves lunch
TWIN BRIDGES -- Lunch is served every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Twin Bridges Senior and Community Center. The menu through Dec. 4 is listed below:
Wednesday, Nov. 29 – Pork chops, pineapple casserole, fruit salad, rolls, and German chocolate cake.
Friday, Dec. 1 – Stew with a roll, salad, fruit and cookies.
Monday, Dec. 4 – Brunch for lunch with fruit and a muffin.
