A sixth grader at Whittier Elementary has won the annual Butte Christmas Stroll button design contest.

She is Josslyn Johnson, 11, whose grand prize design was picked from more than 100 entries from local children. She won $100 in Uptown Bucks for her effort.

The annual stroll is on a Saturday this year — from 2 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 1. The buttons, which are $5 each, go on sale Nov. 29 in several Uptown Butte businesses. The buttons can be used and re-used for discounts at local businesses throughout the holiday shopping season.

Johnson’s design was chosen by popular vote on the Mainstreet Facebook

First place winners also have been chosen in each age division. They each will receive $50 in Uptown Bucks. They are:

• Mia Scarberry, 5, kindergarten, West Elementary, ages 3-6.

• Havyn Alexis Boyd, 8, third grade, Emerson Elementary, age 8, 7-9.

• Caysi Green, 12, seventh grader at East Middle School, ages 10-13.

• Jesslyn Valle, 15, 10th grader, Butte High, ages 14-18.

Prizes for the winners will be awarded at the 7 p.m. tree lighting ceremony in Heritage Plaza on Dec. 1.
